obsidian by jennifer L. Armentrout

Synopsis:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.And then he opened his mouth.Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me.You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

Hey again! Bee here, so i know it's already tuesday and i should have done a sunday's poems... but due to a lack of internet i coudn't post one of those... so for now it will be just this review! Sorry!

I quickly want to say that i might spoil some stuff in this review due to pure exasperation.
Okay, that being said, let's get started!

So i finished this book yesterday and am about halfway through Onyx, the second book of the lux series, and am greatly disappointed.
A friend of mine had given me the impression that this book was great... how trusting i am.

You probably want to know why i didn't like the book, aye? Well, the first and biggest reason is the maddening romance betweem Katy, the bookish and kind of cool main character, and Daemon, the rude alien lightningbulb. They were dancing around eachother for the whole first book and a good part of the second book -.- like i get the whole "Humans and lightning people can't be togeter or else we will disappear and probably get tortured by evil people" thing that was going on. BUT COME ON. In the beginning of the book Daemon was wary of Kat, which i understand... i mean who could resist her witty comebacks? Plus the book said she has a nice bum... that works for- okay getting off topic here *cough* totally not having crushes on fictional characters.
Anyway, as I was saying, Daemon was being a dickface because he wanted to protect his sister's and his people's secrets. But doing so he totally pissed Kat off on several occasions, which, i must admit, was pretty amusing... i had no problem with him being a jerk. However, I did have a big problem with His shifting emotions. One moment he was all sweet and not that bad, the next he was a total jerk and embarass her and after that he could turn cold as ice. Get your shit together dude. Either you want to kiss her or not, don't play with her.
pkus, at the end of the book it was like he flipped a switch. At once he was totally unto Katy and i was like SERIOUSLY?! And then all of a sudden Katy isn't attracted to him anymore. Or so she says. *facewalls*

Now let's talkabour dear kittycat. She isn't exactly innocent in this maddening romance either. Their sexual tension is obvious. Hell, her house basically blew up when they started getting it on! And yet she tries, and failes, to hide her feelings. For him and for herself. She denies that she is in love with a lightbulb from outer space, who is kind of hot.
Which brings me onto another point of why i didn't like this book! :D
Miss armentrout used every opportunity to point out Daemon's hotness. After the tenth time she used the adverb sexy when describing his smirk I GOT THAT HE'S A HOT ALIEN. Literally, as he's made of light...hehehe get it? Hot-light, no? Okay bad joke.
Moving on!

Surprisingly, there weren't only bad features to this book. I must admit that overall the concept was good. Aliens that are made of touchable light? Cool. Light aliens that can shoot firebulbs? Awesome. That's really the onlly thing that was good about this book in my opinion.

Ah, there you have it "in my opinion". You should know that i don't particularly like storys that evolve around romance, like this one. I was disappointed, yes, but if you're a fan of romance do check this book out :) It wasn't for me, as i'm more into the bloody stuff, but yeah... if you dig sexy alien boys then do give it a try.

If you ask me i'd say that armentrout should have brought the alien stuff more to the surface. The romance is really everything this book is about. Every chapter involves daemon and kat. It's a little too much.

Bee over and out.

Defy by Sara B. Larson.

Here I am with my first review! forgive me if it's bad, i'm still trying to get a hang of this reviewing thing xD. So let's cut to business, shall we?

Synopsis:
Alexa Hollen is a fighter. Forced to disguise herself as a boy and serve in the king's army, Alex uses her quick wit and fierce sword-fighting skills to earn a spot on the elite prince's guard. But when a powerful sorcerer sneaks into the palace in the dead of night, even Alex, who is virtually unbeatable, can't prevent him from abducting her, her fellow guard and friend Rylan, and Prince Damian, taking them through the treacherous wilds of the jungle and deep into enemy territory.
The longer Alex is held captive with both Rylan and the prince, the more she realizes that she is not the only one who has been keeping dangerous secrets. And suddenly, after her own secret is revealed, Alex finds herself confronted with two men vying for her heart: the safe and steady Rylan, who has always cared for her, and the dark, intriguing Damian. With hidden foes lurking around every corner, is Alex strong enough to save herself and the kingdom she's sworn to protect?

Defy by Sara B. Larson was a pretty good book, but it could have been waaaaay better.
For starters i'd like to point out that the cover is amazing! I love that it's just simple, a dagger, and it looks great.

I was very excited for this book because after reading a few reviews and stuff i had the picture of an awesome  girl kicking everyone's as... how wrong i was.
Let's just say that Alexa, the main character, is indeed a bad-ass character...BUT, she's too girly to be kick-ass. When Prince Damian showed only an ounce of affection she was on the floor drooling all over herself GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN! It ain't like you've never seen a guy shirtless, so get your chin off the ground and walk away.

That´s pretty much what i was thinking the whole time while reading this book. She, Riley and Damian have the worst love triangle ever. It´s annoying and i don´t particularly like any of the characters. Damian is an arrogant ass and Riley is a jealous bastard. Please, Alexa, i get that you´ve never had time to appreciate the male body during your teen years but tone it down please. Thank you! :)

BLOOD! >:D
Okay! Now let´s drop the bad romance and move on to the plot.

It was good. But not great. I really liked the idea of this book and all that, but it could´ve been a tad more vicious if you ask me. Like, the great battle in the end? Not so great! It was boring... Alexa spend weeks training and all we get is some fire and BAM it ends. Like, no blood, no backstabbing no torture. I WANT BLOOD!

But i suppose it was good enough.. i don´t want to spoil anything but the deaths in the end really got to me for some reason.

Even though i criticize this book a lot... i did like it. I don´t know if it was because there was magic involved or because i really like the mystery that´s tied to the story... but I do know that i will read the prequel :)

I'll give this book 3 stars, which is surprisingly good for this book... but what can I say? I just liked it.
I'd recommend this book to you if you like bad-ass female main characters that kill people!

Bee over and out! *salutes*

A little questionnaire and some more about Bee!

To start this blog off i would like to say Hi to all of you readers! I was planning on just skipping a first post like this and writing a review instead... but according to a friend of mine that would not be acceptable ;).
And so i am making an actual ''first post", sadly i have no idea what to actually write here because i already wrote a introduction... so i guess i'll just do more list, aye? Yes, yes, lists are wonderful! Plus i'm not creative enough to come up with anything interresting to say so this fill have to do! Questionnaire in 3...2...1...GO!

Which book has been on your shelves the longest?
That would be Unwind by Neal Shusterman. It has been in my to-read list for at least 5 years now xD. The thing is that every time i open the book i'll get distracted.... *glares at Tumblr*

What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next?

What book did everyone like and you hated?
So, The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas. What was up with this book? To be honest i didn't finish it. I couldn't get my way through the first 5 chapters.... Such a shame, though. Because i actually love the concept and the plot could be REALLY good, if only the writing didn't suck so much. Plus i didn't like any of the characters.
But maybe i just criticize too much xD. My average rating is 2.94... oh well, i'm not easy to please.

Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read?
Oh that's easy. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry for sure! Wherever i look this books just pops up out of nowhere... people keep recommending it to me but i just don't have time to read it! *sigh* I probably should read it... i really should. Hmm, you guys can expect a review of this book any time. If i actually read it, that is.

Which book coming out in 2015 is top priority to read?
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES BY SARAH J. MAAS! OMG I'M SO PUMPED FOR THIS BOOK! I JUST CAN'T... NO...IT HAS TO COME OUT NOWWW! okay, breathe Bee, just breatheee.
So, i'm VERY excited for this book! It's a Beauty and The Beast retelling! That's my favourite disney movie of them all and it's written by Sarah J. Maas? Is it going to be Belle swinging daggers at Gaston or something? xD

Last page: read it first or wait ’til the end?
Wait 'til the end! I think that if you read the last page directly then you take all the fun out of reading the actual book! I love the thrill you get whenever you're in the middle of a good crime novel. You live with the main character and crave to know the solution... of course i've considered reading the last page... but then again, that would be cheating on my dear Sherlock ;).

Acknowledgments: waste of ink and paper or interesting ?
That depends. If I were to finish a book i'd write a 10 page acknowledgment stating how much food has helped me through my life....
*cough* so yeah, i think it's fine. But I usually just skip them.

Which book character would you switch places with?
Rose Hathaway! She's bad-ass and buddies with the queen. Plus she can probably get anybody to fall for her...*stares into empty space lovingly* OKAY, so i have a secret crush on
Rose Hathaway, don't judge me! D':

Which Authors do you want to read that you haven’t yet?
George R.R. Martin. I adore Game of Thrones. But i haven't actually read the books yet, and i 'm planning on doing so pretty soon. My brother has already read them and he's always on the verge of spoiling me.. so i guess i'll just have to read the books an spoil myself, aye? No? Meh, whatever.

Which book has been with you to the most places?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone... okay so I worshiped this book. I slept with this book. I took it to school, had it with me during dinner and now have it conserved neatly in the bookcase next to my bed, along with the other books of the series.

Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later?
Nope, i actually loved reading back in highschool. I read the books that were required in a day and turned in the review first thing in the morning ;). Call me a stud if you want, i don't caaare.

Stephen King or Anne Rice?
You can't expect me to choose! D: No, i love both to pieces! Stephen King's books still haunt me at night and Anne Rice has a beautiful way of writing. Nope, not gonna do it! *sticks out tongue at laptop*

Used or brand new?
Used. I don't like new books. They're cold and...meh. Used books have a great smell! Well, my books do. My brother manhandles his book so badly that they're almost fall apart -.-

Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?
Yes, plenty. But i''ll just name a recent one: The Fault in our Stars. Okay, so the book was overrated. Everybody loves it because it's about cancer patients...let's face it. And though it was good, it doesn't quite add up to all the good reviews and everything. I liked the movie mainly because Shailene Woodley was in it... but yeah.

Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
Um, myself? I've got a pretty good gut feeling and i don't really take book advice from anyone.

Recommend a series/ or book:
I recommend that you read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It's is inspiring and realy changes the way you look and your surroundings. If you ask me it's a realy must-read! :)
